Description
Banana brownies are a moist, rich twist on the classic dessert, combining the deep flavor of chocolate with the natural sweetness of ripe bananas.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 overripe bananas (mashed)
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter (melted)
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)
- 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
- In a large bowl, mash bananas until smooth. Add melted butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract. Mix until well combined.
- Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients, stirring until just combined. Fold in chocolate chips or nuts if using.
- Pour batter into prepared pan and spread evenly.
- Bake for 25–30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack. Slice and enjoy.
Notes
Use overripe bananas for the best moisture and sweetness. Avoid overmixing the batter to maintain a fudgy texture. Store leftovers in an airtight container to keep them soft.
