Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
  • 3 cups cabbage, thinly shredded
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce (low-sodium recommended)
  • 1 tbsp fresh garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated
  • 2 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil (for finishing)
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tsp honey or brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp avocado oil (or peanut/canola oil for high heat cooking)

Optional Add-ins:

  • 1 carrot, thinly sliced
  • ½ bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • ½ tsp red pepper flakes (for spice)
  • 1 tbsp chili sauce or sriracha (for extra heat)

Instructions

  • Marinate the Beef: In a bowl, mix the sliced beef with 1 tbsp soy sauce, ½ tbsp garlic, and cornstarch. Let it marinate for 10-15 minutes.
  • Heat the Wok: Add 1 tbsp avocado oil to a hot wok or skillet over high heat. Let the oil shimmer.
  • Sear the Beef: Cook in small batches for 2-3 minutes per batch, ensuring a quick sear. Remove and set aside.
  • Stir-Fry the Cabbage: Add another 1 tbsp oil to the wok. Toss in the shredded cabbage and remaining garlic/ginger. Stir-fry for 1-2 minutes until slightly softened.
  • Combine Everything: Return the beef to the wok, add oyster sauce, rice vinegar, remaining soy sauce, and honey. Stir-fry for 1 more minute to coat everything evenly.

  • Finish with Sesame Oil: Drizzle with sesame oil for extra aroma, toss once more, and serve hot.
