  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet or Dutch oven, cook the ground beef over medium-high heat until browned. Drain excess fat if needed.
  2. Add diced onion and garlic to the skillet. Cook for 3–5 minutes until softened.
  3. Stir in tomato sauce and diced tomatoes. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  4. Add paprika, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Let simmer gently while pasta cooks.
  5. In a separate pot, cook elbow macaroni until just al dente. Drain and fold into sauce mixture.
  6. Top with shredded cheese if desired and allow it to melt.
  7. Let the goulash rest for 5 minutes before serving for best flavor.

Notes

For extra richness, use beef broth instead of water. Add bell peppers or mushrooms for texture. Don’t overcook the pasta—it will continue to soften in the sauce.
