Description

Capture the spirit of a Southern summer with this Sweet Tea Peaches recipe! Fresh, juicy peaches combine with robust black tea and a hint of natural sweetness to create a refreshing drink that’s perfect for sunny days, backyard gatherings, and relaxing porch moments. This classic beverage blends tradition with a few modern tips for unforgettable flavor.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large fresh peaches, ripe and fragrant

  • 46 black tea bags (Lipton, Luzianne, or English Breakfast)

  • 1 to 1.5 cups sugar (adjust to taste)

  • 1 gallon fresh, filtered water

  • 1/8 teaspoon baking soda

Instructions

  • Prepare the Peaches:
Wash peaches under cold water. Slice thinly (leave skins on for extra flavor) or peel if preferred. Place slices into a large saucepan with 2 cups of water. Simmer gently over low heat for 10–12 minutes, stirring occasionally. Lightly mash the peaches to release juices.

  • Brew the Tea:
While peaches simmer, bring 4 cups of water to a rolling boil. Remove from heat, add black tea bags, and steep for 5–10 minutes depending on desired strength. Stir in 1/8 teaspoon baking soda to neutralize tannins for a smoother flavor.

  • Combine Tea and Peach Syrup:
Strain the peaches to capture the peach syrup. In a large pitcher, mix the brewed tea with the peach syrup. Stir in 1 to 1.5 cups sugar while the mixture is still warm to fully dissolve.

  • Finish and Chill:
Top off the pitcher with cold filtered water until it reaches about 1 gallon. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours to allow flavors to meld beautifully.

  • Serve:
Serve over ice with fresh peach slices and optional mint sprigs or lemon wedges for a decorative and flavorful finish.
